Construction parking

After a thorough search in both Greek and Hebrew, I have discovered that there is no scripture passage in the Bible that mentions parking. But that is exactly what this is about.
For a number of years, we have shared our parking lot with Amarillo College and they have shared theirs with PSUMC. The lot directly west from Polk Street UMC, across Polk Street, is owned by Amarillo College and is being completely torn up and reconstructed. During this process, our wonderful business and community neighbors are letting us park in their lots as reflected in the map below.
While we realize that this will be an inconvenience for many and an obstacle for some as well, I hope we will keep two things in mind during this time in the history of our church. First, PSUMC has thrived during times of difficultly and trials. From the early rugged years of existence through times of depression and war, PSUMC has exhibited a resilient spirit to share Christ’s love in all circumstances. Secondly, our heritage as a part of the Body of Christ reminds us of God’s presence in all circumstances. I am certain that the apostle Paul was not thinking about parking when he said, “… give thanks in all circumstances...” ( I Thess. 5:15-18), be we do indeed give thanks to God for our many blessings.
We are working on a list of the top 10 “blessings in disguise” for our parking challenges. Please send me your “top ten” list and any ideas or problems that you encounter. We need your help seeing all that needs to be done.
Every Blessing,

Dr. Burt Palmer
Senior Pastor, Polk Street UMC
