Welcome to the Polk Street United Methodist Church web site!

My name is Burt Palmer and I am the Sr. Pastor.  My wife is Shawn and I hope that you will join us for worship or one of our many events and programs.  Please help me know who you are when you visit and let me know you found us on the web.

We have a large, beautiful campus and we are currently in the midst of construction for a new addition.  We have been located in the heart of Amarillo since 1888.  I would describe our style of worship as Vibrant Traditional, meaning that you will have a bulletin and we follow a liturgical order of worship.  You can find out more about the United Methodist Theology – or what we believe – at www.umc.org which is our denominational website.

When you visit our church, you will probably find someone you already know, but if you don’t 2011 is a great time to visit us because I don’t know everybody yet either, I just preached my first sermon here on June 12, 2011.  I call myself the “Sheepdog” because I believe that Jesus is the only true Shepherd (John 10:11).
