Worship at Polk Street UMC

Sunday Morning Services

8:30 AM and 10:55 AM in the Sanctuary

Services are televised with a one week delay--10:00 a.m. Sunday mornings on  channel 14 (cable channel 13)

We invite you to join people of every generation and every walk of life as we come together during our Sunday morning worship services.  We celebrate God's presence in our lives through music, preaching, prayer and a special time for children.  Surrounded by the beauty of our historic sanctuary and songs of praise, worship is an inspiring experience.

Child care is available for ages 6 and under.  The main nursery is on the first floor of the main building.  The closest entrance to the nursery rooms from Polk Street is the southernmost door to the main building.

The completion of our elevator renovation has made the entire sanctuary handicapped accessible.  Special spaces in the sanctuary for wheelchairs are located at the front of the south section on the main floor (press "S" in the elevator) as well as in the balcony along the main aisle (press "3" in the elevator).

Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of the month in each worship service.  All other Sundays we observe communion in our chapel at 9:35 AM.  Everyone who is a friend of Christ is welcome to receive the bread and cup.  You do not have to be a Methodist or a member of Polk Street UMC to receive communion.

Our door is open if you have questions about...

  - what it means to be a Christian,

  - what United Methodists believe, or

  - what's happening at Polk Street United Methodist Church.

Contact the church office at 374-2891 to set up an appointment with one of our pastors to discuss your questions.  You can also find out more about the United Methodist Theology – or what we believe – at www.umc.org which is our denominational website.
