Sunday Morning Worship Services

Traditional Worship

8:30 AM and 10:55 AM in the Sanctuary

We invite you to join people of every generation and every walk of life as we come together during our Sunday morning worship services. We celebrate God’s presence in our lives through music, preaching, prayer and a special time for children. Surrounded by the beauty of our historic sanctuary and songs of praise, worship is an inspiring experience. Childcare is available for ages 6 and under in the early childhood area (first floor near the chapel). The completion of our elevator renovation has made the entire sanctuary handicapped accessible. Sunday school is offered between worship services at 9:40 and lasts until 10:45 AM. (See age-level information for details.)

Seasonal and Holy Day Worship

Services are celebrated on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Each worship service is designed to bring worshippers into a remembrance of the life of Christ. On Christmas Eve we celebrate Christ’s birth with a candlelight communion service. Our preparations for Easter begin with the observance of Ash Wednesday as we center on the forgiveness Christ offers. On Holy Thursday we join together to remember the Last Supper. On Good Friday we contemplate the crucifixion as our Sanctuary Choir performs sacred music of the season. Easter Sunday is a joyous celebration of the Resurrection of Christ.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of the month in each worship service. All other Sundays we observe communion at 9:35 AM, in our Chapel. Everyone who is a friend of Christ is welcome to receive the bread and cup. You do not have to be a member of Polk Street UMC to receive communion.
