At a called Church Conference presided over by District Superintendent Rev. Don Boren, Polk Street United Methodist Church members approved the vote to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church by a majority of 74.9% to 25.1% out of 391 votes. Upon approval of that ballot a second vote was taken and 87.5% of the members approved of joining the Global Methodist Church.
This means that upon ratification by the Northwest Texas Annual Conference session in June Polk Street will become a member of the Global Methodist Church on July 1, 2023.
The Church Council approved a new church name to take effect on July 1, 2023. The new name for our church will be Polk Street Methodist Church.
