Mission Moment

The Fall semester of school begins August 13th.  It has been our annual outreach to San Jacinto Elementary School to provide some school supplies for the teachers.  This blesses the teachers in a tremendous way because they often go out and buy needed student supplies with money from their own pockets.  This year we are collecting the following:

  • Glue Sticks

  • School boxes (please no zipper bags)

  • Folders with brads

  • No. 2 pencils

  • Hand cleaner

Please do not purchase or bring any other supplies not on this list.  Thanks so much for your generosity which expresses itself in the love of Christ to our friends at San Jacinto Elementary School.

United Methodist Men

Friday Breakfasts - Join the United Methodist Men each Friday at 6:45 for breakfast and fellowship in Wesley Hall. We have coffee, donuts, cereal, or bring your own.

Wib Newton is our First Friday speaker on August 2. He is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and is acting Supervisor for both organizations. Wib is a co-founder/trainer of Restoration Therapy and is an active therapist at the Hideaway Experience marriage intensive.

He is the author of “Great Start”, a premarital training that is being used in the Texas healthy marriage initiative, “Together in Texas”, and the Family Wellness fatherhood curriculum, “Dad’s for Life.” He regularly leads a small group of couples through “Marriage Made Easier.”  Wib is considered one of the most diversely trained and experienced therapists in the Amarillo area specializing in marriage, trauma, and addiction.

Wib grew up in WV and went to WVU on a football scholarship where he played under coach Bobby Bowden.  Wib was a minister for 31 years before focusing solely on his private practice. He and his wife, Janice, have been married since 1976 and have two adult sons.

St. Augustine said, “To sing is to pray twice.” Also, it’s been noted that singing in a choir can provide the following benefits:

Singing strengthens the immune system. ...Singing is a workout. ...

Singing improves your posture. ...Singing helps with sleep. ...

Singing is a natural anti-depressant. ...Singing lowers stress levels. ...

Singing improves mental alertness. ...Singing can widen your circle of friends.

We invite you to experience all of these along with the fellowship of our Sanctuary choir. Rehearsals begin August 7 at 7pm. There is no audition! For more information, contact George Biffle at

Whoz We R Camp 2019

Polk Street kids had an amazing time at Whoz We R Camp.  We had 16 of our children attend.  4 of those asked Jesus into their heart!  Thank you Polk Street for all your support through prayers and scholarship assistance.  You helped these children make life long memories!
