From Pastor Mark
On social media, we have all kinds of friends who have either asked us or we have asked to “Friend Me” either casually or intentionally. Some we are really close to, and some that we barely know.
What about in church? What difference does friendship make in church? Last week we learned how the Gospel of John emphasizes that God came through Jesus to offer friendship as a means of redemption with God. This week, we’ll consider the same verses with a focus on the redeeming value of friendship with each other.
So, this Sunday we will be focusing on “Friend Me?” from John 15:12-15 with Holy Communion being served. We will have a special reception at 12:00 pm in the Parlor to thank DeAnne Oliver as our Youth Director for the last 41/2 years. All are invited to celebrate her ministry and pray for her as she begins a new journey in her life and ministry.
God bless you, your family, and all of our “friends” at Polk Street!

St. Augustine said, “To sing is to pray twice.” Also, it’s been noted that singing in a choir can provide the following benefits:
Singing strengthens the immune system. ...Singing is a workout. ...
Singing improves your posture. ...Singing helps with sleep. ...
Singing is a natural anti-depressant. ...Singing lowers stress levels. ...
Singing improves mental alertness. ...Singing can widen your circle of friends.
We invite you to experience all of these along with the fellowship of our Sanctuary choir. Rehearsals begin August 7 at 7pm. There is no audition! For more information, contact George Biffle at email@example.com.
