From Pastor Mark

Sept. 10, 2019

Last Sunday we started our “God Is Big Enough” series. We started off with focusing on how “God is Big Enough… for me!” from John 10:10. God can handle our ups and downs, our victories and defeats, and things we understand and things we don’t. We gave “God is Big Enough” bracelets to remind us all these next 30 days how Big our God is, to pray to God during these times, and even to give them away when the opportunity presents itself. We welcomed Jim & Kay Cosper into membership.

We all have families, and we all have the chaos that comes with them. How do we manage when it seems our families spin out of control? How can we have practical relevant ways to model our faith to our family?

This Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8:30 & 10:55, our message will be “God Is Big Enough… for my family” from Acts 16:33-34, with our Bethlehem Kids Choir singing and Melissa Stovall sharing a Polk Street Family moment. I hope you will join us this Sunday either in our historic sanctuary or online. If you need a “God Is Big Enough” bracelet, please let us know.

Are you interested in taking the next step in your faith? Have you been considering joining Polk Street, accepting Christ, or being baptized? You are invited to “Pizza with the Pastors” this Sunday after church to find out more about membership at Polk Street.

God bless you, your family, and Polk Street, because “God Is Big Enough!”

Bell Choirs

Hand chimes and hand bells are rung by hand(s) and played in chromatically arranged sets or octaves on foam-covered tables, acting as one instrument, with each ringer responsible for certain notes whenever they appear. Chimes are used with children to teach music and to train them as prospective hand bell ringers; and along with youth and adults’ hand bells’ music on occasion. All ringers read from a score similar to a piano score. If you can read music and count, you can play in the bell choirs. For more information, contact Noel-Paul Laur at

Wednesday Night Programming - This week’s lesson “Sleep”. September 18th lesson “Stress Management”

On Wednesdays, for the 2019-2020 school year PSUMC Kids are focusing on 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you? Don’t you know that you have the Holy Spirit from God, and you don’t belong to yourselves? 20 You have been bought and paid for, so honor God with your body.”

This year we are learning how to honor God with our body by understanding how to take care of it. We want to be great examples to the world and part of that is taking care of the ONE body that God gave us.  On Wednesday evenings we learn about: Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep, Stress management

There are a lot of pressures in the world and our goal is for our Polk Street Kids to be strong believers in Christ, both spiritually and physically!  With God, they can do anything!
