We are right in the middle of our “God Is Big Enough” series. Have you received your “God Is Big Enough” bracelet yet? Have you given one away yet?
God is Big Enough to handle our ups and downs, our victories and defeats, and things we understand and things we don’t. God is also big enough for our families. When we face the chaos and uncertainty that every family has, God is big enough to help us have healthy boundaries and strive for the overall development of the family by not sweating the small stuff. Please continue to pray for yourself and for our families every time we look at our “God is Big Enough” bracelets.
Polk Street UMC has a rich heritage but also a great future. This Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 & 10:55, our message will be “God Is Big Enough… for Polk Street UMC” from 1 Peter 2:9-10, with our Angel Choir singing. I hope you will join us this Sunday either in our historic sanctuary or online. If you need a “God Is Big Enough” bracelet we will be happy to get one to you asap.

Coaching Success… Inspiring Families…Transforming Lives
Coaches needed for Project Hope!
Project Hope is a mission outreach of Polk Street United Methodist Church. It is a mentoring and coaching ministry to help people set and achieve goals and walk them out of the cycle of poverty. Through our director, Kim Zimmer and our dedicated life coaches, Carol Hicks, Carolyn Meier, Vickie Lee, Polly Higley and Merle & Vernell Houska, great strides have been made by our first 2 families. We have now taken a third family and would like to have a fourth, but we need 2 additional coaches. Here is a recent reflection by one of the family members. “I want to leave a legacy and build a good future. I want to get my nursing degree for me and my kids so soon I’m going to get back in school to accomplish that goal. I want my kids to have a way different childhood than mine. I want them to see the goals I have set for myself in life and to see me work hard and not ever give up. I want them to see me achieve the goals I have set so when they grow up they know they can achieve any goal they have in life or become anything they want as long as they work hard and never give up.”

We will meet at the west end of the PSUMC Bus Barn @ 9am, Saturday, September 28 for organizing, etc. This client is the Mother of one of our members at PSUMC! Many of you know Andy Justus as the KAMR News Anchor, but he also has a great witness to give of his life growing up in Amarillo and coming to his relationship with Christ while at Boy’s Ranch. His message is lived through his favorite Bible verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) All are invited to come and be blessed by spending an hour with Andy and his positive message about life’s ups and downs.

Ladies Exercise Classes
Ladies, come join us in the parlor (Room 204), Mondays at 10:30 a.m., and/or Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00 a.m. for low impact exercise, stretching, Ball, hand weights, a little yoga, and walking on our track on the 2nd floor of the Great Hall. We have wonderful Christian fellowship and lots of laughing.

At the heart of the Polk Street United Music Ministry is worship. We sing and play instruments to point ourselves and others toward God. Have no fear, we hold no auditions for our choirs. Whether you are a professional musician or just a music lover, you will enjoy it here. Everyone is welcome to make a joyful noise to the Lord!
Take a minute to look over the opportunities we offer. It is never too late to join one of our groups. Our prayer is that all who participate will grow in Christ and experience God’s unconditional love.
Our Sanctuary choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room on the 2nd floor. For more information, contact George Biffle at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hand chimes and hand bells are rung by hand(s) and played in chromatically arranged sets or octaves on foam-covered tables, acting as one instrument, with each ringer responsible for certain notes whenever they appear. Chimes are used with children to teach music and to train them as prospective hand bell ringers; and along with youth and adults’ hand bells’ music on occasion. All ringers read from a score similar to a piano score.If you can read music and count, you can play in the bell choirs. For more information, contact Noel-Paul Laur at email@example.com.
Tower Chimers (K – Grade 5) - Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:00 pm in Room 220. The choir rings at the 10:55 am worship service the same Sundays that the Children’s Choirs perform, October - May.
Wesley Ringers (Grades 6 – 8) - Wednesdays, 5:00 - 5:30 in Room 220
Jubilate Ringers (9th grade and up) - Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm in Room 220. The choir rings at the 10:55 am worship service once a month, October – May.
The New Beginnings Youth Choir (6th through the 12th grade) rehearses from 5:00-6:00 PM each Sunday evening. We have lots of fun events lined up for the year, including community outreach opportunities and a DFW tour!
We have three children’s choirs: Cherub for ages 3 thru Pre-K, Angel for kindergarten thru 2nd grade, and Bethlehem for grades 3rd through 5th. Rehearsals for all of the children’s choirs begin Wednesday, August 28 from 6:00-6:30.
The Angel Choir will sing on Sunday, Sept. 22, and Cherub Choir will sing Sunday, Sept. 29. Please contact Holly Johnston at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Below are our PSUMC YOUTH 2019 activities. Along with having fun, we nurture the spiritual, emotional, and mental growth of your teen. Together we will work towards developing a faithful teenage Christian who will continue his/her walk with the Lord throughout their life.

Wednesday Night Programming - This week’s lesson “Stress Management”
On Wednesdays, for the 2019-2020 school year PSUMC Kids are focusing on 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you? Don’t you know that you have the Holy Spirit from God, and you don’t belong to yourselves? 20 You have been bought and paid for, so honor God with your body.”
This year we are learning how to honor God with our body by understanding how to take care of it. We want to be great examples to the world and part of that is taking care of the ONE body that God gave us. On Wednesday evenings we learn about: Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep, Stress management
There are a lot of pressures in the world and our goal is for our Polk Street Kids to be strong believers in Christ, both spiritually and physically! With God, they can do anything!
