Children's Ministries @ Polk Street UMC

You and your children are invited to visit our family of faith during any weekend service. While here, you will experience our commitment to working with every family as we grow in God's love and serve Christ in our community and the world.

Here are some of the upcoming events in our department (click for more info):

Our Children's Ministry strives to offer a variety of programs which emphasize both biblical content and fun. Our Sunday school classes, choirs, and other children's activities are age appropriate, interactive, and relevant to today's children.  All of our activities provide a safe, nurturing environment so that parents can rest assured that our children's ministry is a positive place for their children.

If you have any questions about any of these events or our children's department, give us a call
in the church office at 374-2891 or send us an email.

What About You?  Registering to Volunteer at VBS is Quick & Easy!

Each year, the ministry of VBS provides a fun and intensive Christian education experience where children worship, learn, play together, and grow in their faith. VBS is open to children within the church and draws many children from the community, providing a great opportunity to extend the church's outreach.

Without the help of adult volunteers, this program would not be possible.  It takes over 50 adults to provide this week of ministry to these kids.  Please take a minute to consider being one of these volunteers during VBS.  Keep these things in mind:
  • No previous experinence is required, just a desire to serve
  • There are many different roles that need to be filled.  Most new volunteers serve as crew leaders for small groups of kids--no "teaching" required! click here to view the crew leader ministry description (pdf)
  • There are several training opportunities available before VBS starts so you know what to do and what is expected of you.

If you have any questions about helping out, please give us a call at the office.  You'll find that VBS will make as big of an impact on you as it does on the kids.
