Children's Ministries @ Polk Street UMC
You and your children are invited to visit our family of faith during any weekend service. While here, you will experience our commitment to working with every family as we grow in God's love and serve Christ in our community and the world.
Our Children's Ministry strives to offer a variety of programs which emphasize both biblical content and fun. Our Sunday school classes, choirs, and other children's activities are age appropriate, interactive, and relevant to today's children. All of our activities provide a safe, nurturing environment so that parents can rest assured that our children's ministry is a positive place for their children.
If you have any questions about any of these events or our children's department, give us a call in the church office at 374-2891 or send us an email.
KidsQuest on Sunday Mornings
KidsQuest is our Sunday morning program offered at the same time as adult Sunday school classes.
- Baby Beginnings (Main Nursery-room 114): Our Baby Beginnigs class is more than just "babysitting." Our time together is designed to nurture and teach the youngest children about Jesus' love for them.
- Rock-A-Bye Toddlers & Twos (room 116): Children in our Rock-A-Bye class will learn what faith feels like as they are nurtured by trusted examples of faithful living. Rock-A-Bye helps little ones come to know God through Bible stories, songs, age-appropriate activities, and fingerplays.
- Rock Solid Preschool Class (Room 107): Children in our Rock Solid Preschool Class discover some of the most colorful and exciting characters in the Bible. Activities in this class address the many different learning styles of our children. The class is based upon Matthew 7:24, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock."
- Elementary KidsQuest (Gather in room 105): Our elementary KidsQuest lessons incorporate both large group and small group activities. In the large group, we pray, worship, and are introduced to the weekly theme. We meet as a full group until 10:00, before breaking apart into small groups to learn and share together. During small group time, we dig deeper into the day's topic and find out how the stories and traditions we are learning apply to our daily life. At the end of our lessons, all elementary kids return to the chapel for pick-up.
Nursery care for kids 5 and under is available each Sunday from 8:15am-Noon.
Movie Night: Despicable Me (PG)
Friday, February 17th in the church parlor (2nd floor)
6:00-8:00 pm
Join us for a movie and a lesson about unconditional love. We'll have a great time and some great snacks as we enjoy the movie. We'll have chairs there, but you might want to bring a pillow or a beanbag instead.
If you want to know more about the movie (or the PG rating), here is a link to a review that also talks about some of the themes we will be addressing in the movie.
If you have any questions, please give us a call in the church office!
See you on the 17th!
